Closure (mk 2)

I feel it now
Closure
I sense it has arrived
Closure
Past issues have been resolved
Closure

cliche love metaphors

January 4th, 2008 , 7:57 am

love is a consuming fire
burning all things in its path
its heat ignites, excites, enflames
but also burns and scars

desire is fuel for the soul
but running on empty does no harm
when there is no fuel there is no flame
the heart rests, cold but calm

Recoil

January 4th, 2008 , 7:53 am

A spring wound tight
is let loose
the tension is released

Vibrations carry
through the air
impulses increase

Spirals wind back in
and recoil until
any movements cease

Sleeping on other people’s beds

January 4th, 2008 , 7:46 am

Is this just a ‘one night stands’
or is it something more?
The door is fixed firmly in place
and clothes sprawled on the floor.

There was no seduction
there certainly was no fight
All but the sheets remain unchanged
because of where I sleep tonight

There is no other besides I
There is only me
Give me a decent sleep
and content I will be

seven and forty

December 26th, 2007 , 7:56 pm

charming, witty, intelligent
successful, famous, rich
inebriated, aroused
lonely, searching

lost

I pray that you may
break out of the darkness,
and step into the light,

God’s spirit working in you

move from law into grace

Christmas Eve

December 26th, 2007 , 7:44 pm

For those who are lonely,
sad, broken, strained
Oppressed, drunk, stoned
depressed, dumped or shamed

A helpless cry in the night
a selfis world passes you by
this my prayer for each of you
as this Christmas draws nigh

May you reach out to Jesus
turn , repent and have faith.
May the Father’s mercy and love enfold
enable you to live in his amazing grace

May consumerism be taken to a cliff
the gifts shared with those in need
May the real message of Christmas
our saviour’s birth be taken heed

Mistrust

August 10th, 2007 , 1:38 pm

Suspicion faltered at the bridge
deceit, trickery and lies
The wheels emancipated
result in an abrupt, surly demise

Cannot you see how your lies cut
and bind as ropes restrain at sea?
You dropped the anchor
and it plummeted quickly, silent, steep

I went down with it for a time
but now I will arise
Still, steady afloat
more learned and wise

Force

future vision

August 10th, 2007 , 1:35 pm

It’s strange how you endeavour to preempt
the way you think things will be
you close your eyes and look ahead
and try to anticipate, foresee

But time moves along like clockwork
steadily, moving, true
Constant yet unpredictable
Invariably on the move

When it comes to it in the end
it all simmers down to trust
God is the author of my life story
He remains beside me dust to dust

Sovereign, Holy, Powerful
Almighty, Gracious, true
Righteous, Just and holy
Abounding in love wthout lieu

closure

August 7th, 2007 , 4:31 pm

a while back I said goodbye to one
I hadn’t known for long
it only lasted a short while
but it was a strong bond

sometimes I like to reminisce
on what we did and thought and said
but now I’ve come to accept
they will only be memories in my head

so cheers and raise a glass to
what we learnt and how we grew
our friendship was a blessing
and I still thank God for you

iniquity

August 6th, 2007 , 2:43 pm

Father,

Pierce my pride
rid me of all selfish ambition
My sinful nature is inevitable
fill me with your spirit that the spirit can overcome the flesh

I want nothing more than a greater faith
a greater trust in your power and plans

May I depend only on you
crediting nothing to myself
but boasting only of Jesus Christ- his life and resurrection

It is only through him that I can come to you seeking mercy
through him I become justified and righteous in your sight
through him I am transformed from a condemned, guilty, fallen sinner
to a beloved child of God

I can do nothing more than to lay down
my life
my pride
myself
before you

take all that I have

give me a stronger faith
a greater trust in your will and power
a greater love of you and man kind
that I may serve you and proclaim the good news all of my days

through you all things are possible
without you nothing is possible
